Career Planning is where you set goals in PokeBot, work out what you need to learn, and build a concrete plan to get there. This guide walks through the main tools in the module.

How Does Find Your Direction Help You Choose a Role?

If you don't have a target role yet, start with Find Your Direction. Based on your background, interests, and strengths, PokeBot suggests career paths that could suit you and explains what each one involves: why it fits you, what you'd do day to day, and what it takes to get there.

What Does Skill Gap Analysis Show You?

Once you know your target, run a Skill Gap Analysis. Add your resume or enter your current role, then tell PokeBot the role you're targeting. The AI will:

Compare your current skills against the requirements of your target role
Identify specific gaps and rank them by priority
Suggest actions to close each gap, with an estimate of how long each will take
Save your gap report so you can revisit it anytime

Tip: Run a new analysis whenever you change your target role or pick up new skills. It shows where you stand against the new target.

What's in a Growth Plan?

With your gaps identified, use Create Your Growth Plan to generate a personalized plan for the timeline you pick (3 months, 6 months, 1 year, 2 years, or a custom length). The plan includes:

Tasks and milestones for each week (longer plans group them into two-week or monthly blocks), with checkboxes you can mark as complete
Recommended learning resources with links
Practice exercises tied to your specific goals
Progress checkpoints to keep you accountable

Growth plans are saved to your account and show up in the Progress Tracker's Growth Path. Completed tasks count toward the progress shown on your Dashboard, and the first task you finish each day earns XP.

When Should You Use a Study Plan?

When you need to go deep on one skill, create a study plan for it, whether that's system design, a programming language, data analysis, or leadership. Study plans break learning into weekly blocks (longer plans use bigger blocks) with specific materials and exercises.

What Is Quick Learn For?

Quick Learn gives you a bite-sized lesson on any topic, with audio and curated resources if you want to go deeper. It's useful when you finish a milestone and want to start on the next thing. (Quick Learn and study plans are both part of Learning Tools.)

What Does Simulate a Day in the Role Show You?

To see what your target role looks like day to day, use Simulate a Day in the Role. PokeBot walks you through a typical day hour by hour: the work and meetings you'd have, the skills each part uses, and the role's main challenges and rewards. Use it to check whether the role suits you before you commit to a plan.

How Do You Get the Most Out of Career Planning?

Start with Find Your Direction if you're unsure about your target, then run a Skill Gap Analysis so your plan starts from where you are now
Generate a growth plan and use its weekly tasks as your to-do list
