Quick answer: PokeBot's career tools work inside Claude as a custom connector. You need a free PokeBot account. In Claude, go to Customize > Connectors, click Add custom connector, and enter https://connect.pokebot.ai/mcp as the server URL. Claude then sends you to PokeBot to sign in and select Approve. After that, make sure PokeBot is on in your chat (+ > Connectors) and name it in your request, for example "Use PokeBot to score my resume." PokeBot can also match your resume to a job, write a cover letter, plan your next career move or run a mock interview. A free PokeBot account includes 20 runs a month in Claude.

This page is the setup guide and reference for PokeBot in Claude: how to connect, how to get Claude to use it, what each tool does, what gets saved to your account, the monthly limits, and how to disconnect. If you use ChatGPT, PokeBot runs there too; see PokeBot.ai Career Coach on ChatGPT.

What is PokeBot in Claude?

PokeBot's connector gives Claude nine tools from PokeBot's career platform: resume scoring, resume-to-job matching, cover letters, career goals, skill-gap analysis, growth plans and mock interviews. When Claude uses one of them, PokeBot runs the analysis and the result comes back into your conversation.

The connector works through your own PokeBot account. That is why you sign in once when you connect, and it is how your results end up saved in your account, where you can open them later in the PokeBot app.

How do I add PokeBot to Claude?

You need a Claude account and a PokeBot account. A free PokeBot account works. Anthropic's help center says custom connectors work on Claude's Free, Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise plans, and Claude's Free plan allows one custom connector.

On a Free, Pro or Max plan:

  1. In Claude, go to Customize > Connectors.
  2. Click Add custom connector (in some layouts you click + Add first).
  3. Enter https://connect.pokebot.ai/mcp as the server URL. If Claude asks for a name, use PokeBot.
  4. If the dialog asks you to choose authentication settings, pick Sign in now, and under OAuth client pick Use Claude's published identity, which Claude marks as recommended.
  5. Click Add, then sign in to PokeBot when Claude sends you there (the next section shows what you'll see).

On a Team or Enterprise plan, an Owner adds the connector once for the organization, under Organization settings > Connectors: select Add, then Custom, and choose Web if Claude asks for the connector type. Each member then finds PokeBot under Customize > Connectors and clicks Connect to sign in with their own PokeBot account.

Once PokeBot is listed in Claude's Connectors Directory, you can also add it from there.

After you connect, the steps under How do I get Claude to use PokeBot? below show how to use it in a chat.

What happens when I sign in to PokeBot from Claude?

Claude opens a PokeBot page to finish the connection.

  • If you're signed out, the page says Sign in to connect PokeBot to Claude. Select Sign in, then use your email and password or Continue With Google, or choose Create a free account if you're new.
  • Your email must be verified. If it isn't yet, PokeBot asks you to verify it first. After you verify your email, go back to Claude and click Connect again.
  • Then you see the consent screen. It shows which app is asking (Claude, claude.ai) and which PokeBot account it will connect to, and it lists what Claude will be able to do:
    • Use PokeBot's resume, cover letter, career planning and mock interview tools for you
    • Save the results to your PokeBot account (you can turn this off when you ask)
    • Runs count toward your PokeBot plan
  • Choose Approve or Deny. Approve connects Claude and takes you back to it. Deny cancels. If the screen shows the wrong account, choose Switch account. Only approve if you just clicked Connect in Claude yourself.

How do I get Claude to use PokeBot?

Claude decides when to use a connector. It can bring PokeBot in on its own when your request fits, but it doesn't always. To have Claude use PokeBot (Anthropic's connector guide covers the toggle and approval steps):

  1. Make sure PokeBot is on in the chat. Select + in the message box, then Connectors. If the toggle next to PokeBot is off, turn it on. The toggle controls whether Claude can use PokeBot in that conversation, so check it when you start a new chat.
  2. Name PokeBot in your request. Start with "Use PokeBot to", for example "Use PokeBot to score my resume," followed by your resume text.
  3. Allow the tool. Claude can ask for your approval before it uses a PokeBot tool. Select Allow once, or Always allow to skip the prompt for that tool from now on. To change this later, go to Customize > Connectors, select PokeBot, and set its Tool permissions.

If Claude has already answered without PokeBot, reply "Use PokeBot for this," and Claude can run your request through PokeBot.

Every result comes back as text. The seven tools with a card also send a visual result card, which Claude can display in the conversation.

You can choose a technical, behavioral, resume, job-fit or custom interview (for example, a salary negotiation you describe), with 3 to 8 main questions. You pick the starting difficulty (easy, medium or hard), and the level can move up or down during the interview based on your scores. When an answer leaves gaps, the interviewer can ask a follow-up before moving on. Resume and job-fit interviews need your resume text, and a job-fit interview also needs the job description.

Try prompts like these:

  • "Use PokeBot to score my resume," followed by your resume text pasted into the chat.
  • "Use PokeBot to match my resume to this job description," with both pasted in.
  • "Use PokeBot to start a behavioral mock interview for a junior data analyst role, 5 questions."
  • "Use PokeBot to make me a 3-month growth plan to move from customer support into product management."

What does PokeBot save to my account?

Results go to your PokeBot account, so you can come back to them in the app.

  • Resume scores, job matches, cover letters, career goals, skill-gap reports and growth plans are saved unless you ask Claude not to save them (for example, "don't save this one"). When a copy is saved, the result includes a link to open it in PokeBot.
  • The full resume text you share is not saved with these copies, though a result can quote parts of it (for example, a strength it found in your resume). A saved resume score or job match keeps the results, and a saved job match or cover letter also keeps the job description.
  • Mock interviews are always kept in your PokeBot interview history, together with the details you started them with (including any resume text and job description you gave) and your answers.

How many runs do I get in Claude?

  • Free PokeBot accounts get 20 runs a month in Claude, shared across all the tools. The count resets on the 1st of each month (UTC).
  • Starting a mock interview counts as one run. Answering its questions and finishing it don't count.
  • This allowance is separate from the web app's free allowance. Runs in Claude don't use up your free uses in the PokeBot app.
  • On a paid PokeBot plan, runs in Claude count toward your plan's usual limits, the same as in the app. You can compare plans here.

When you reach the monthly limit, PokeBot replies that you've used your 20 free PokeBot runs in Claude this month and gives the date they reset.

How do I disconnect PokeBot from Claude?

You can end the connection from either side:

  • In PokeBot: in the PokeBot app, open Settings (the gear icon at the top; on a phone, tap the three-dot menu, then Settings), go to the Integrations tab, and under Connected apps select Disconnect next to Claude, then confirm. Claude's access ends right away, and Claude will need to sign in again to use PokeBot.
  • In Claude: go to Customize > Connectors, click Remove next to PokeBot (or open its three-dot menu), and follow the prompts. This stops Claude from using PokeBot. If Claude still appears under Connected apps in PokeBot afterwards, select Disconnect there too.

What if something goes wrong?

  • Claude answers without using PokeBot. Check that PokeBot is turned on for the chat (+ > Connectors), then reply "Use PokeBot for this," or start your next request with "Use PokeBot to".
  • PokeBot says to verify your email. PokeBot connects only verified accounts. Verify your email, then go back to Claude and click Connect again.
  • PokeBot says the request expired. The connection request is no longer valid, for example because the page was left open too long. Go back to Claude and click Connect again.
  • PokeBot says you've used your 20 free PokeBot runs in Claude this month. Your runs come back on the reset date in the message, or you can move to a paid plan.
  • Claude asks you to connect PokeBot again. This happens whenever Claude's access to PokeBot has ended, for example after you disconnect Claude in PokeBot's Settings, after you change or reset your PokeBot password, when Claude hasn't renewed its PokeBot sign-in for 30 days, or one year after you approved access. Whatever the reason, sign in to PokeBot again when Claude asks, and select Approve.
  • Claude shows a PokeBot error with a reference code. Try again in a moment. If it keeps happening, email contact@pokebot.ai and include the code.
